ExperienceI have been teaching for over ten years, beginning my teaching in Europe. The bulk of my experience at that time was performing professionally throughout Germany in musical theater. In college at Brigham Young University I received a degree in Vocal Performance, and also assisted in the teaching of what BYU refers to as their "Vocal Boot Camp". This semester-long intense program was designed by my teacher Dr. Clayne Robison (CLICK HERE to go to his website), and was used to give all incoming freshmen the opportunity to learn all of the fundamentals of beautiful singing that they would continue to use throughout their university experience. While finishing up with my studies I was hired on to teach voice at The Music School in American Fork, Utah. I taught there for two years before moving to Tallahassee, Florida where I earned my Masters degree from Florida State University. I am currently residing near Los Angeles, California where I am working on my Doctorate in Vocal Arts and Music Education at the University of Southern California. Here I am teaching undergraduate music and non-music majors and preparing them for auditions, performances, and mainly assisting them in reaching their singing goals. I have been teaching over the internet for several years, and have found with the use of technology such as webcams and microphones I can be nearly as effective online as I am in my own studio. This requires a special commitment from my students, but with that commitment I have still found a lot of success.
